So you’ve decided to take the plunge and get a boudoir shoot done! Firstly, good on you! There is nothing quite like a boudoir experience, and you will have the images to take home that last a lifetime!

I have put together a few pointers below that might make preparing for your intimate shoot a little less nerve racking!

What to Bring?

In terms of the shoot itself, I rely on clients to supply their own lingerie. I recommend a light and dark coloured set. It is up to you if you would like to introduce extras like thigh high stockings and suspenders etc - I would recommend it if you can, as it does make for some extra character to your images.

Know Your Knickers!

I see a lot of girls – and a LOT of knickers! And I can guarantee that the girls that look their best on the day, have bras and undies that fit! Your boudoir shoot day is not the day to be worrying about fitting into those size 10 panties – If they dig into your hips, the camera will see it. Going for the size 12 that frames you beautifully and sits flush with your skin is going to look so much more delicious!

The camera can see the tight knickers. It can’t see the size printed on the tag.

The above goes for bras too. I see lots of girls with beautiful boobs! But sometimes they try and squeeze them into bras that are too small and incorrectly fitted. This results in overflow, which can cause you to look like you have a larger frame than you actually do. I would recommend getting a bra fitted to find out your true size.

Bra and knicker sets for these shoots don’t have to be super expensive either – if you find yourself with nothing to wear – places like Big W and Kmart often have sets for as little as $10, which are cute and are able to be worked in perfectly to a boudoir session.

Hair and Makeup

Generally, natural looking makeup with slightly smokey eyes and natural hair work best for these shoots.
